Wednesday morning we had a fascinating tour of the Magen David Adom facility at Tel Hashomer Hospital, the Israel Red Cross. We went to visit the largest blood bank in Israel that services 95% of the Israeli population.
We saw how the blood platelets and red blood cells are separated and stored as well as processed and shipped to hospitals all around Israel. We also learned about their stem cell research program that handles stem cell research based on the umbilical chord so that it is not controversial according to religious concerns.
We then had a VIP tour of Yad Vashem with a specific focus on the Christian experience and the Holocaust.
