One of the reasons actor Blair Underwood wanted to always come to Israel was to visit The Holy Land and see where Jesus and his disciples walked. We visited the Mt. of Beatitudes where The Sermon on the Mount was given.
The Church of the Multiplication is an area situated on the north-western shore of the Sea of Galilee in Israel. The church is built upon the rock where it is believed Jesus performed the miracle of the multiplication of the loaves and fishes (Mark 6:30-46) and the fourth resurrection appearance of Jesus (John 21:1-24) in the Christian faith.
Capharnaum is where Jesus is thought to have lived for three years once he started his ministry. It is believed that he lived in this rock house with Simon Peter and his mother-in-law. The concrete structure above the rocks is now a church. Inside the church, you can look down through glass and see the home structure
The next day, we left the bank of The Sea of Galilee and drove an hour and a half to Nazareth where we visited The Church of the Annunciation; the home of Mary, the mother of Jesus. It is believed that she lived in this cave dwelling 2000 years ago, when The Angel Gabriel appeared to her and announced to her that she was chosen to give birth to the baby Jesus. Right up the hill from Mary’s Church of Annunciation is the home of Joseph (St. Joseph’s Church). It is believed that Joseph, the father of Jesus, lived there.
After an unbelievable day of walking with history, we left Nazareth and drove two hours to Jerusalem and had an amazing dinner at The Eucalyptus Restaurant. Chef Moshe Basson took care of us and kept Blair laughing.
On Day 5, we finally made it to Jerusalem. The site’s significance stems from religious traditions regarding the rock, known as the Foundation Stone, at its heart, which bears great significance for Jews, Christians and Muslims.
